Introduction:
This blog post is a book review of the book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone which is a mystical book with a Fantasy Genre.
Author:
Joanne rowling or J.K Rowling as she is better known is the Author of the entire harry potter series including this one.
Plot:
Professor Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall and Hagrid give the one-year old orphaned Harry Potter to Harry’s Aunty and Uncle. Just before Harry’s 11th Birthday, then Hagrid returns to Harry and tells him that he has magic and has been accepted into Hogwarts. On Harry’s way to Hogwarts he meets the Wealsey family who help him get onto the train to hogwarts. Then harry more closely meets Ronald wealsey and later on Hermione Granger. At Hogwartz harry gets into many situations that mainly get him into trouble. Harry then learns about the Philosopher’s Stone and he learns that an elixir of life can be extracted from it. Harry then learns safety of the stone is at risk. Then harry and his two friends go to the stones chamber to try and protect it and they go through a series of obstacles. When harry gets to the end of the chamber, he learns that Quirrell serves and is possessed by Voldemort and they try to take the stone from harry which harry recieves. There is a battle which harry soon passes out and awakes in a hospital to learn that Voldemort was defeated.
My likes and dislikes of the book:I think that the characters behaviors and attitudes in the book were overall a little juvenile. for example, the little arguments that Harry and Draco Mouthoy get into and the comments that they make. The characters behaviors are a little Juvenile which suggests the book is for younger people but, then the vocabulary in it is certainly not. one thing that is very good about this novel is descriptive language used, it is one of the best parts of the book and makes ot sound so interesting.
Recommendation:
in my opinion this book is one of the best fantasy novels and is a brilliant introductory to a huge, most widely read book series. I would recommend this mainly to 12 year olds and above becasue although it is a fantasy book that appeals to younger people due to the themes of the book, it could be a little challenging for young children to understand the plot completely. I overall rate it 9.5 out of 10.
