A blog analysing an advertisement for 12 year olds 8075

Introduction:
This is an evaluation of an advertisement that is advertising the new WII console game NERF N-STRIKE
The purpose of this advertisement:
This is advertisement is advertising the new WII console game NERF N-STRIKE. The purpose of the advertisement AIDA, firstly capture attention particularly that of a twelve year old. Secondly the advertisement next purpose is to maintain the persons interest, then the next purpose of the advertisement is to entice or stimulate the person to want to buy the product and finally the ad is to show the person where, how or what they can do to obtain this product, basically the main purpose is to get people to purchase this product.
The structure of this advertisement:
The first part of this advertisement is to capture your attention, the thing that does this is the large, bold and yellow Nerf company logo at the top left of advertisement. The logo is what this advertisement uses to initially capture the viewers attention, the reason that the logo is used for this is to show the viewer that this is the company advertising the product and that is the first thing that the company wants so that the viewer has the logo embedded in their head. The next part of the advertisement is to maintain the viewer’s attention and it does by the large and very appealing image in the centre of the page to a 12 year old kid. The image shows a cartoon character (from the game being advertised) firing a nerf gun and this is what maintains the 12 year old viewer’s attention. 12 year old viewers find this image appealing because it shows them that this product is a fighting, action game which is what interests them. The image gives this appeal with the bright yellow to red streaking background, the strong, powerful looking nerf gun, the striking nerf bullets, the face and the clothes of the cartoon character which all give the appeal of a fast, fighting action game. The next thing that the viewer sees is the nerf gun with the line 'one blaster, two ways to play' (on the top right side). This again maintains the viewer’s interest by showing them a little bit more about the video game product. Then the viewer eyes move further down the right hand column in the black rectangle box and the viewer becomes more interested about the product as the viewer learns more about it. Then the viewer looks around the advertisement and sees the several different logos from different companies that are all part of this product and these different logos for example EA are well known and they all together make this product have the appeal of a good product. After that the viewer then starts to run out of things to look at on the advertisement so then the looks around a bit more and then the viewer sees the small image of the entire product in the package at the bottom left of advertisement and this is what stimulates the viewer to want to buy the product, the image of the entire product is small because the viewer is already interested in the product and therefore this part is not very important. there is no information on where or how to get the product for this advertisement and this is because the ad is for 12 year olds and 12 years olds are the viewers but, since they are 12 they aren't going to be the one buying the product, the parents are so the purpose of this ad is get the kid to wont the product and then tell their parents to buy it.
Target audience:
The target audience is 12 year olds and this is shown mainly due to the advertisement giving little information and mostly imagery which is what appeals to 12 year olds. The type of images also shows that the advertisement is for 12 year olds because it is all action fighting cartoon images which is what attracts 12 year olds.
Visual and written techniques:
This advertisement is very visual and mainly uses visually techniques to capture and maintain the viewer’s attention. Visual techniques include prioritizing the images, the more important ones are images that capture the attention and so they need to be the biggest and these include centre image and title logo. The information giving words and images about the product are mush smaller because the viewer’s attention is already caught so they're now looking in closer at the image so the images can be smaller. Another visual technique is where everything is placed on the advertisement, everything draws the viewer to the centre image. The different colors and sizes of writting is another visual technique used to make more important things stand out.
A written techniques used in this advertisement is using small short catchy phrases or slogans such as 'one blaster, two ways to play', there aren't many written techniques, mainly visual because visual is more appealing to twelve year olds.
Conclusion:
In my opinion this advertisement is a very effective advertisement and this is because of the excellent structure of the advertisement. I think that this advertisement fulfills its purpose perfectly.

English Assignment- book review

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Introduction:
This blog post is a book review of the book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone  which is a mystical book with a Fantasy Genre.
Author:
Joanne rowling or  J.K Rowling as she is better known is the Author of the entire harry potter series including this one.

When harry gets to the end of the chamber, he learns that Quirrell serves and is possessed by Voldemort and they try to take the stone from harry which harry recieves. There is a battle which harry soon passes out and awakes in a hospital to learn that Voldemort was defeated.
My likes and dislikes of the book:
I think that the characters behaviors and attitudes in the book were overall a little juvenile. for example, the little arguments that Harry and Draco Mouthoy get into and the comments that they make. The characters behaviors are a little Juvenile which suggests the book is for younger people but, then the vocabulary in it is certainly not. one thing that is very good about this novel is descriptive language used, it is one of the best parts of the book and makes ot sound so interesting.
Recommendation:
in my opinion this book is one of the best fantasy novels and is a brilliant introductory to a huge, most widely read book series. I would recommend this mainly to 12 year olds and above becasue although it is a fantasy book that appeals to younger people due to the themes of the book, it could be a little challenging for young children to understand the plot completely. I overall rate it 9.5 out of 10.
